Between 40C and 55C the HotStart inhibitor competes with the template DNA for binding to the Taq DNA polymerase, thereby shofting the binding equilibrium towards complex formation with only target-specific primered template DNA. This minimizes the non-specific a amplification in PCR and ensures high sensitivity and specificity.
